Disclaimer: Briq does not have a token, and I’m not sure if it ever will. This review ventures outside my regular style of covering projects. Briq is just something I personally found very fun to use. It is not the best vehicle for speculation, but it offers a unique experience if you enjoy NFTs. Also, its a fun way to explore StarkNet!
Overview
Briq is a NFT project on StarkNet that allows users to build customized NFTs with small blocks, known as Briqs! The Briqs themselves are stored as NFTs (similar to the ERC-1155 standard) and can be combined together to craft different images or structures. The final result can be minted as a NFT (ERC-721 compliant) and held in a personal wallet, or sold on the secondary market.

How To Get Started?
Head on over to https://briq.construction/, create a profile, and select the builder page. This is the user interface that allows you to create your masterpiece! An overview about this page:
You don’t even need Briqs to use it! You can build out whatever you want, for free. However to mint your creation as a NFT, you need the required amount of Briqs in your wallet!
The user interface is a 3D canvas - you can move around, rotate, flip, stack Briqs, change the color, and save your progress.
If you like what you made but don’t feel like buying Briqs to mint it, that’s cool! You can save it as a template, and if you decide you want to mint - obtain the Briqs and mint it then. You can save, copy or make as many templates as you wish.
You can also download your saved work as a .json file if you’d like to keep a copy
Getting some Briqs..
Briqs can be obtained in a few different ways:
Purchase a new official set as they become available for sale from the team (a new public sale is launching Feb 13, 2023!)
Purchase an official set from the secondary market
The benefits of buying an official set is that it contains a booklet (basically a walkthrough) on how to build it out. You get the required amount of Briqs needed and after you unbox the set, a tutorial guides you on how to assemble the Briqs to create the featured product.

If you would rather just obtain a few Briqs and build out your own creation, that’s possible too.
The best way would be to head over to Mintsquare and grab something that’s already built! Remember - it does not matter what it looks like, you are able to burn that NFT and obtain the underlying Briqs used to build it.
Tip: Make sure to consider the number of Briqs you are buying before making the purchase. And always purchase from the official Briq set page on the marketplace! And of course, it works the opposite way. If you list a minted NFT made with Briqs - those Briqs are transferred to the new owner upon sale!
Looking ahead..
Briq (and StarkNet in general) is still in the early stages from a product standpoint, so remember that some things may still need to be ironed out. Personally, I have not encountered any problems working with the product and the discord is very helpful if you have any questions. I’ve tried to compile a bit of information about what to expect from them in the future.
They plan to integrate new features such as combining minted NFTs together
Plans to integrate the Briq NFTs in games and metaverses
Ongoing official set launches
There is plans to list on additional marketplaces (Currently only on Mintsquare and Aspect)
Upcoming Release
This new set is available to purchase on February 13th for whitelists and the 14th for the public
200 custom made ducks are available, created by the artist Outsmth
The ducks are pre-built. However, each set contains a booklet with instructions on how to build the duck. This allows you to disassemble and use the Briqs for something else if you wish, while allowing you to rebuild it later
Check out the webpage to see the requirements for the whitelist! Whitelisted addresses can bid on up to 5 ducks, and any remaining unsold ducks will be auctioned off to the public (in a blind auction fashion)
Be sure to check out the Ducks Everywhere twitter!
